Rhinoplasty, also called nose surgery, can be performed on both men and women looking to improve the appearance and/or function of their nose. The nose we are born with isn’t always the nose we should have chosen to pair with our other features–and being the central feature of our face, the nose can significant impact the way we perceive the overly harmony and balance of our face. A large nose can cause other features to look disproportionately small, and vice versa. For this reason, Dr. Joseph works with each patient on an individual level, taking into consideration all aspects of their facial structure to determine the best procedure plan for improving the appearance of the nose in a way that looks natural and compliments their other features. Rhinoplasty may be performed through an incision on the outisde of the nose (Open Rhinoplasty) or on the inside of the nose (Closed Rhinoplasty). The decision between an open or closed procedure depends on the Plastic Surgeon’s procedure plan and what issues of the nose are being addressed.
In addition to the aesthetic improvements Rhinoplasty can achieve, the function of the nose may also be improved for patients who have an obstruction in the structure of their nose that hinders air flow through the nose.
